The Wine Roads of Mendoza have a lot to offer to visitors. One option you should treat yourself to is a romantic horseback ride through the vineyards at sunset. You arrive at a picturesque winery that is set in one of the most beautiful winemaking scenes of Mendoza.
In the afternoon, at a determined time, our wine specialist guide will bring all of the guests to the ‘estancia’ (ranch) where this amazing adventure will begin. It is located in the area of Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, which is only half an hour from the City of Mendoza.
Upon arrival, the hosts of the estancia who will be expecting us will greet us hospitably with coffee, tea and snacks. Then we will be given a tour around the ranch.
During this time, a gaucho (Argentinean cowboy) will accompany us along the walk. This is the type of person who is accustomed to life in the countryside and an expert in the region. He will prepare and saddle the horses for us.
We will be given a quick technical talk from the horseback ride guide about how to ride these gentle horses in order to make the most of this calm ride through the vineyards. This will happen before we start the tour on trails that are surrounded by endless vineyards, even passing among the rows of grapevine, so that the ride is an experience worth telling about.
Throughout the tour, our wine specialist guide will introduce you to the world of the wine industry, providing information about the properties of the soil, grape varieties grown in the area, irrigation systems, harvesting techniques and winemaking and other facts you will enjoy while riding.
When we arrive at the selected winery, we will leave the horses in the care of the gaucho in order to be welcomed by the winery's own staff, who will give us a complete tour of the various areas, such as winemaking rooms, wine cellars, and tasting rooms where we will finish with a tasting of their excellent wines.
Then we will mount our horses and follow another trail among the vines while the sun sets behind the Andes. When we arrive back at the estancia we’ll enjoy a typical and comprehensive Argentinean antipasto platter accompanied by a delicious glass of wine.
The nightfall will allow us to see the starry sky of Mendoza and after sharing a memorable day, it will be time to say goodbye to the guide of the ride, the gaucho, and the owners of the estancia in order to start heading back to Mendoza.
